Kent Huskins Now a Detroit Red Wing

Kent Huskins a depth defenseman who has a Stanley Cup ring with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007 is now a Detroit Red Wing.  He is definitely a vital role player that uses his big size to his advantage.  After the lockout Huskins was unsure if he would ever play in the NHL again and a few hours ago he got a call from the Detroit Red Wings where he signed a one-year deal worth $750,000.  The Wings are pretty banged up with defensemen Jonathon Ericsson and Jakub Kindl both being injured. Last night they had to resort to using prospect Brian Lashoff in the lineup which actually turned out good when he opened up scoring for the Red Wings, but when Carlo Colaiacovo went out last night with an injury they had to bring someone with experience in.  Now and for the rest of the season Huskins will be beneficial for Detroit because they lack defensive depth and I would be surprised to see all the Red Wing defenders stay healthy all season long.

Huskins has playoff experience and somewhat of a veteran presence for the locker room after appearing in 299 regular season games and 48 playoff games. He has 13 goals and 54 assists throughout his career and is actually a +49, which is good for a bottom six defender or any player for that matter.
